You helped us win two victories for whales!

You've helped stop the proposed tidal turbine development in the adoption orcas' home.
And you've helped convince the Australian Government to create the world's largest network of marine protected areas.
Last week, I wrote to you with the disturbing news that an application had been made to put a tidal turbine installation into the home of the WDC adoption orcas. The response from WDC supporters was overwhelming, and now the application has been withdrawn. We also want to thank the developers for listening to the public outcry and for putting the lives of these remarkable whales before the company's immediate interests.
And, back in February, I asked for your support to convince the Australian Government to protect the whales and dolphins who make their homes in Australian waters. The Government has announced that it will create the world's largest network of marine protected areas - protecting 2.3 million square kilometres!

I am delighted and proud to bring you this news.

Both demonstrate the power of the public to bring about change. And both decisions will save the lives of many whales and dolphins.
Thank you so much for the part you have played in these victories and for your continued support.
Together we continue to work towards a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.

WDC Chief executive
