New Zealand. Penguins Released After Oil Spill

Penguins Released After Oil Spill: At the beginning of October, 2011, the Rena, a large cargo ship, got stuck on a reef off New Zealand, leaking 350 tons of oil and killing more than 1,000 seabirds. Marine conservationists jumped into action, waiting on the beach for little blue penguins, the only nocturnal penguin in New Zealand. They were able to rescue dozens of the little guys, clean them up, and release them 11, 22, 2011.
