alert!
Owls
are being steadily hunted and slaughtered in India for ceremonies and rituals.
These majestic creatures are especially important in agrarian communities where
they control rodent and insect populations. We need to put a stop to this cruel
practice today.
In certain places in India, the owl trade is thriving. Prices for dead owls and their body parts are soaring as they are increasingly used in rituals and ceremonies as well as street performances. Skulls, ear tufts, and livers are frequently used for their supposedly magical properties. Urge the Ministry of Environment and Forests to curb the illegal owl trade and put a stop to this cruel practice. Owls are extremely important in controlling the population of rats and insects, especially in agrarian communities. India has outlawed the owl trade, but the laws are clearly not being enforced. Tell the government to crack down on illegal owl poachers and protect these majestic creatures.
