Dear Friend,
|
I know firsthand the communities that were
left devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. I have spent many years living in some of the
most affected regions. The people in these communities are hard-working and
almost totally dependent on animals for their livelihoods. For example, farmers
would use Carabao (a form of water buffalo) to plough fields.
I am taken
back by the mass destruction and knowing the islands so well, I can say with
conviction, it is inevitable that the impact on animals will be great during
this extraordinary time of need. So, I am writing to you for
your help.
While the world rallies to support the victims
of this disaster, WSPA is on the ground helping the forgotten victims - the
animals.
We are working with NGOs and governments to
ensure that the humanitarian aid and the needs of animals are met in tandem to
the millions of people affected in the Philippines. Thus far, our assessment
reveals WSPA will provide emergency care to thousands of livestock and companion
animals - that are currently wounded and at risk of starving to death.

Animals are an important part
of the family in the Philippines and are vital to the survival of urban and
rural communities.
Without your urgent help, local
families might lose the animals that they rely on for their livelihood and
survival. By protecting animals suffering as a result of Super Typhoon Haiyan,
you're also helping an entire society to recover and heal.
There is an inextricable link between
animals and human welfare. The shocking number of human casualties estimated
makes us well aware that animals will desperately need our help.
Join me and
make an
urgent donation today. Help save the suffering companion and farm
animals of the Philippines.

With sincere thanks,
